OK, so I've read in Cedarville's handbook that we're expected to be attending church on Sundays, and my dad and I have looked up several local churches, some of which aren't exactly within walking distance, especially in the winter. What is the best way to get transportation to church (for those of us who won't have cars), and are there groups that go together to the different area churches?

I personally go to a church in town, so I just walk because I do not have a car either. However I have many friends who carpool together to a church in the area. Also, many churches send vans to Cedarville to pick up students who do not have cars. If there is a particular church you are wanting to check out, you will almost always be able to find someone who has a car that could take you.

Everyone else will be looking for a church, too, so you can all carpool together... if there are upper classmen in you unit/hall, they most likely already have a church and some type of transportation, and they'll be very happy to help to find a church that fits your spiritual needs.

Are there any Plymouth Brethren churches in the area?

I have never heard of any, but I have never looked for any either.

I know there's a Plymouth Brethren Church in Columbus...but that's a bit of a drive! You'd definitely need a car or someone going that way. I know some people in town who go to Dayton for church so it's not unheard of to do a long drive on Sunday morning.
From my experience, it's worth taking your time when you arrive to try out different churches - you'll find one that fits you well (most churches in the area are very open & friendly, and most have ties to Cedarville University and are supportive of the University's views). There are students to get rides with but you'll find that a lot of churches outside of Cedarville area have members who are residents of Cedarville Township - so even if you can't get a lift with students...you'll probably find a family in the church who lives in Cedarville that you can catch a ride with. It's worth trying out the churches in Cedarville first - they're pretty neat and all are within walking distance. Even in mid-February (just bring your snow-boots and wind-proof jacket!) Cedarville's easy to walk around - you can get pretty much anywhere at a slow pace in 15-20 minutes. Certainly something to take your time over & pray about when you get here. There are some great churches in the area- it's just a matter of finding the one God can use you in and you can be blessed through :-) ------------------------- :-) Class of 2014- Hoping to be a Psych Major |
