Hey, the residence life regulations pdf says Microwaves have to be 750 watts or less. I've looked and most of the good brands only go down to 800 watts and the microwaves with 700 watts - 750 watts tend to have bad reviews.

What microwaves / microwave brands would you recommend?

Thanks!

I use a Emerson that's a 700W and it's worked fine for me. The only thing with 700-750W microwaves is you have to adjust cooking time.

My advice though would be to wait until your at campus before buying one. Your room mate may have one, and often people don't mind sharing theirs - so you may find your hall has several points. Some dorms have cooking areas too and may have a microwave in that

Worst case scenario, if you don't have a microwave, there'll be lots of trips to the the Target/Walmart/Lowes and you can pick one up there or even order it online to be delivered to you at campus!

Honestly, your not gonna be kicked out or get your microwave confiscated if your over the watt limit. I have a Emerson with 900 watts. But yea like the person above me said, wait until you get a letter saying who your roommate will be next year, or if you already know, just talk with them and figure it out between the two of you. I didn't do this my freshman year and actually ended up having two fridges in my room, which was sweet but not the smartest decision.
