Since I arrived at Cedarville, I had always heard that students were restricted to "three-second hugs." However, a friend and I began discussing this, and I was challenged to find where the Student Handbook said this. I studied the handbook and could only find that "Public displays of affection should be limited to...a brief embrace."
Where did the "rule" of a "three-second hug" come from? Is it the accepted definition of a "brief embrace?" Is it something students made up? OR Is it an unwritten rule of Cedarville University? |

LOL! I've heard people joke about this. My understanding is that a) it's awkward for everyone else b)we're all stressed out students. Having a boundary set helps to avoid going down the road of temptation c) some people take a hug to mean WAY more than a friendly hug-so having a "standard" helps everyone. That's just my take on it. If you're looking for a more serious answer, Student Life are always open to chatting about rules and interpretation...and Town Hall nights are a great forum for discussing the relevance of these rules
