Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

Seven months ago Jon and Lisa Basner found themselves starting down an extremely difficult road as Jon was diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma. It is a journey that we may expect to take later in life when our children are grown, but it is not one that most of us can imagine facing as a young couple with two toddlers.
Decisions about treatment options seem overwhelming when you have to consider how they will affect your family. Side-effects are even more crushing when they prevent you from being the parent you want to be. Right now, Jon and Lisa seem to be at the darkest part of that journey. Faced with cancer that is continuing to grow despite chemotherapy and with the prospect of aggressive treatments that will severely impact the whole family, Jon and Lisa need us all to come along side of them. Some of us feel led by the Lord to organize a long-term prayer vigil so that the Basner family is always, in the darkest hour of the night and the brightest hour of the day, being lifted up in prayer to our heavenly Father.

We ask you to join us by committing to one or more 15 minute periods of prayer on a daily or every-other-day basis until Jon is restored to health. While Jon and Lisa know that God is already walking with them every step of the way, we would like to fill that difficult road with God's people walking shoulder to shoulder with the Basners.

The following link will take you to The Basner Report, a collection of web pages that are designed to provide you with ways in which you can help. Clicking the link "Pray for Jon" will bring you to a sign up form for the prayer vigil.

If you have friends and relatives across the country already praying for Jon, please forward this information to them and invite them to join us in this prayer vigil.

May God be glorified.
