Access Task Manager
Window's Task Manager is a very useful tool:
- It displays several system performance metrics.
- It provides detailed information about all of the applications (software) and processes (tasks) that are currently running on your computer.
- It also allows you to end applications that are hung (not responding).
Ending a non-responsive program
Once you are in Task Manager > Choose the "Applications" tab > highlight the task that is not responding >Click [End Task].
Accessing Task Manager
Method 1
- Press & hold down the following keys: [Ctrl] + [Alt] + [Del].
- Click "Task List."
- Choose either the "Applications," "Performance," or "Processes" tabs.
Method 2
- Press & hold down the [Ctrl] + [Shift] + [Esc] keys.
- Choose either the "Applications," "Performance," or "Processes" tabs.
Method 3
- Right-click on the task bar (the blue bar that contains the "Start button).
- Select the "Task Manager" option.
- Choose either the "Applications," "Performance," or "Processes" tabs.
Method 4 Set up a short-cut on your desktop to go directly to "Task Manager."
- Right-click on your desktop.
- Select "New" > Choose "Shortcut."
- Type "Taskmgr.exe" in the text box that pops up > Choose [Next].
- Type "Task Manager" in the pop-up box > Select [Finish].
- Double-click on the new icon to go to Task Manager > Choose either the "Applications," "Performance," or "Processes" tabs.
