Accessing H, J, S, T Drives From Off-Campus

To access your H, J, S or T drives from off campus:

  1. Go to your Homepage (Current Student or FacStaff).
  2. Click on the [Resources] button (FacStaff) or view under the "Quick Links" section (Student).
  3. Choose "H:/J:/S:/T:  Drive Access."
  4. Click http://myfiles.cedarville.edu/oneNet/NetStorage.
  5. You may receive a Certificate Error.
  6. If so, click "Continue to this website (not recommended)."

To open a file on a network drive and make changes to it:

  1. Double-click on the desired drive.
  2. Your H: drive will be labeled Home@CEDARVILLE.
  3. Double-click on the folder in you wish to access.
  4. Right click on the file you wish to open.
  5. Click "Download..."
  6. You will be prompted to "Open" or "Save" the file.  Click "Open" if you want to view it, click "Save" if you want to make changes to it.
  7. After the file is saved to your home computer, you can open it and make changes.

Note: You need to make changes using the software in which the document is created (Word, Powerpoint, etc.).  Therefore, you must have the software downloaded on your home computer in order to edit the document at home.

Save your changes!

Make sure you not only save your document to the computer you are working on, but also follow the steps below to save the document back to your H: drive.

Move the edited file back to a network drive:

  1. Go back to the NetStorage screen (using steps 1-4 above).
  2. Double-click on the folder in which you want to save your document. 
  3. Choose "File" > "Upload" from the menu bar above the document list.
  4. Uncheck the "Overwrite existing files" box.
  5. Use the [Browse] button to navigate to where the file is saved on your home computer.
  6. Click to select the file > click [Open].
  7. Click [Upload] to move the edited file from your home computer's C: drive to the desired network drive.

To Exit:

  1. Click on the icon that looks like a closing door.
  2. A "Novell Security Services" dialog box may pop up, select [OK].
  3. Close out of your browser (i.e., Internet Explorer) window.
