Burn CDs with Roxio
Open Roxio
Because there are three generations of computers on campus, there are two different versions of Roxio installed. Opening the program differs in both of these versions.
If you are in the Apple or CBTS computer labs:
- Click [Start] > “All Programs” > “Roxio” > Select “Digital Media Home.”
If you are in the Library or ENS computer labs:
- Click [Start] > “All Programs” > “Roxio Creator DE” > Click “Home.”
- A "Product Registration" window may display. You do not have to register. If you would prefer not to register, click [Cancel] > Select the "Don't show me this again" radio button > Click [OK].
Other than opening the programs, the options in both programs are the same.
Create a Data CD-R
You may want to back up files using a blank CD-R. If so, follow these instructions:
- Insert a blank CD-R into your CD drive (it will list as drive “D:” on your computer).
- Within the Roxio program, Click [Data] from the left menu > Select [Data Disk].
-
Select [Add Data] > Click to highlight the files or folders you would like to burn to the disk > Click [Add].
Hold down [Ctrl] and then click to choose multiple folders or files at a time.
- Select the [Click button to continue] icon in the left corner > Click [Yes].
- Verify that your files have been saved on the CD-R: Click [Start] > Click [My Computer] > Double-click drive “D:”
Create an Audio CD
- Insert a blank audio CD (this will be a CD that specifies its audio capabilities, e.g., a CD-X) into your CD drive (it will list as drive "D:" on your computer).
- Within the Roxio program, Click [Audio] from the left menu > Select “Create Audio CD for Car or Home CD Player.”
- A message will display asking, “Would you like to scan for music?” > Click [No]. Click [Yes] if you do not already know what music you would like to add to your CD.
- Click [Add Music] from the "Create Audio CD for Car or Home CD Player" top menu.
-
Select the files you would like to put on your CD from the Windows Explorer window > Click [Add].
Hold down [Ctrl] and then click to choose multiple folders or files at a time.
- Repeat step 4 until all the desired files display in your CD project.
- Click [Save] to save the music files in your H: drive.
- Name the file > Navigate to where you would like to store the information > Click [Save].
- Select the [Click button to continue] icon in the left corner.
- A message will display stating, “Once the disc is burned, you will not be able to add anymore music to the CD. Do you want to proceed?” > Click [Yes].
- Verify that your files have been saved on the CD: Click [Start] > Click [My Computer] > Double-click drive “D:”
Burn Pictures Using Roxio
Roxio will only aid in burning pictures with a .gi, .iso, and .udi extension. If you would like to add more popular picture extensions (e.g., jpeg, Tiff, gif, etc.), you do not need to use Roxio to copy them to the CD-R.
- Insert a blank CD-R into your CD drive (it will list as drive “D:” on your computer).
- Within the Roxio program, click [Copy] from the left menu > Select [Burn Image].
-
Select [Browse] > Click to highlight the files or folders you would like to burn to the disk > Click [Add].
