CedarPrint Wireless Set Up
Before you start…
With the university’s new CedarPrint wireless printing, students, faculty, and staff now have the ability to print from a personal computer (such as a residence hall computer or personal laptop) to a network printer. This computer help page will explain how to set up your personal computer for wireless printing.
Warning!
To use CedarPrint from a wireless device, you must be connected to cu-secure. For help connecting to the cu-secure wireless, see these setup instructions.
Step 1: Install the PaperCut NG Client (Windows & Mac)
If at any point during the following process you are asked to allow the program to make changes to your computer, click “Yes.”
Windows:
- Navigate to www.cedarville.edu/spcsoftware in your browser.
- Click “CedarPrint – Client Install”.
- Navigate to the folder you just downloaded.
- Double-click “client-local-install.exe” to launch the installation wizard.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to install the client.
Mac:
- Download the CedarPrint client from www.cedarville.edu/spcsoftware.
- Double-click the folder "CedarPrint-Client-Install-Mac.zip" to unzip the folder.
- Double-click the file to launch it.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to install the print client.
- When prompted, type in your username and password.
- Click and hold the PCClient dock icon. Choose “Options,” then “Open at Login”.
Step 2: Install the CedarPrint Wireless Printer (Windows)
Once you have installed the client, you must configure the wireless printer on your personal laptop or dorm computer.
Windows XP: Manual Installation
- Open the "Printers and Faxes" Window from the Start menu.
- Click “Add Printer” > “Next”.
- Select "A network printer, or a printer attached to another computer".
- Select "Connect to a printer on the Internet or on a home or office network".
- Enter “http://printshop3.cedarville.edu/ipp/CedarPrint” as the URL.
- Answer the default printer question.
- Click "Finish".
Windows 7: Manual Installation
- Open the Devices and Printers window (Windows Start Pearl > “Devices and Printers”).
- Click “Add a printer”.
- Click “Add a network, wireless, or Bluetooth printer”.
- Click "The printer that I want isn't listed".
- Check “Select a shared printer by name”.
- Type “http://printshop3.cedarville.edu:631/ipp/CedarPrint” into the text field > Click “Next”.
- The “Add Printer Wizard” window will open. Under “Manufacturer” choose “HP.” Under “Printers” choose “HP LaserJet 4250 PCL6”.
- Click “OK.” The printer will be added.
- Click “Next” > Click “Finish”.
Step 2: Install the CedarPrint Wireless Printer (Mac)
Once you have installed the client, you must configure the wireless printer on your personal laptop or dorm computer.
Mac OS X
- Open "System Preferences".
- Click "Print & Scan".
- Click the "+" (plus symbol).
- Click "IP" at the top of the dialog box.
- Select “Internet Printing Protocol – IPP” from the "Protocol:" list.
- Type "printshop3.cedarville.edu" into the "Address:" field.
- Type "ipp/CedarPrint" into the "Queue:" field.
- Type “CedarPrint” into the "Name:" field.
- Change “Print Using:” to “Generic PostScript Printer”.
- Click "Add".
- Click "Continue".
CedarPrint Locations
There are currently nine CedarPrint stations around campus:
- Apple commuter lounge
- BTS 111 computer lab
- DMC lobby (across from the Journalism lab)
- ENS second floor lobby
- HSC second floor lobby
- HSC third floor lobby
- SSC upper level lobby (across from Admissions)
- SSC lower level hallway (by the game room)
- Tyler first floor (by the echeck stations)
Three more installations are planned for phase two in late fall 2012:
- BTS atrium (by the echeck stations)
- Callan hallway (by the echeck stations)
- Library alcove (by the echeck stations)
