Connecting a Pocket PC Device to GroupWise Mobile Server

You can create a connection between your Pocket PC device and our GroupWise Mobile Server (GWMobile) that will allow you to synchronize your e-mail and PIM (Personal Information Manager) data between the device and your GroupWise account. This process involves establishing your account on the GWMobile server, installing the Intellisync Mobile Suite client (software) on the Pocket PC device, and performing an initial synchronization.

Follow these steps to connect your Pocket PC device to GWServer:

Establishing Your Account on the GWMobile Server

  1. Open an Internet browser and type http://gwmobile.cedarville.edu into the address bar. The Intellisync Mobile Suite login screen will appear.
  2. Enter your campus user name and password, then click on [Go].
  3. Fill in the form, paying careful attention to the required fields > click [Submit]. 
  4. Choose the correct type of device you wish to connect > click [Next].
  5. Click [Next] under the "No, thanks. Please install through my PC" heading. The main screen for Intellisync Mobile Suite will appear.

Installing the Intellisync Mobile Suite Client on the Pocket PC Device

Note: Your Pocket PC device must be configured for Internet access through Internet Explorer. If you have never connected to the Internet from your device, please contact Computer Services for assistance to ensure that you have Internet connectivity.

  1. On your device, open Internet Explorer and enter http://gwmobile .cedarville.edu/install into the address bar.
  2. Put a checkmark in the "Open file after download" checkbox, and then tap [Yes].
  3. Follow any prompts and directions to install the Intellisync Mobile Suite client on your device.

Perform an Initial Synchronization

  1. After the installation completes, your device will prompt you to enter your campus user name and password. We recommend that you use the on-screen keyboard to enter this information.
  2. Choose the more appropriate option for the initial synchronization:
    • Refresh: This option replaces the data on your device with the data in your campus GroupWise account.
    • Merge: This option combines data from your campus GroupWise account with data on your device.  It may cause duplicate entries.

Your Pocket PC device is now properly configured for use with GWMobile Server.
