E-mail Account Expiration and E-mail for Life

[Email this to a Friend]

Before you start…

There are a number of situations that may prevent you from actively being a student for an extended period of time (for example, you take a semester off). This computer help page provides information on your options for account activity, e-mail, and e-mail for life. If you have any additional questions after reading this help page, please send an e-mail to alumni relations or call Alumni Relations at (937) 766-7858.

How long will my Cedarville e-mail account remain active?

How long your e-mail account remains active depends on your situation (see details below).

Warning:

Once an account does expire, it will be purged. All of your e-mail messages will be deleted, as well as all files on your H: drive. Once your account is purged, the data is permanently deleted. If your account is about to expire, you should save all of your files and e-mail messages to a location such as a USB memory stick or CD. It is also recommended that you forward any e-mail you would like to keep to an off-campus e-mail account.

Undergraduate students enrolled for entire fall semester:

Your network account will remain active through August 31 of the following calendar year.

Undergraduate students enrolled for entire spring semester:

Your network account will remain active through January 31 of the following calendar year.

CU Academy Students:

Your network account will remain active through August 31 of your high-school graduation year.

Summer Studies Students:

Your network account will remain active through August 31 of your high-school graduation year.

Graduate Students:

Your network account will remain active for one year beyond date of last enrollment.

Continuing Education Students:

Your network account will remain active ten days beyond date of last enrollment.

What is E-mail for Life?

If you are not returning to Cedarville, but would still like to use a school e-mail account, you can create an E-Mail for Life (EFL) account. EFL is a service that allows you to keep a cedarville.edu e-mail address that is seperate from your current student e-mail account. To activate an EFL account:

  1. Navigate to www.cedarville.edu.
  2. Click “Current Students” at the top right-hand corner of the website.
  3. Type in your username and password > Click [Login].
  4. Click [CedarInfo].
  5. Scroll down to the “Individual (General) Transactions” section.
  6. Click “Email for Life (EFL).”

Note:

Although your e-mail username will remain the same, your EFL account is separate from the GroupWise system used for active student e-mail accounts. Appointments, messages, etc. will not be transferred from student e-mail (GroupWise) to EFL (NetMail). You should make sure you have saved any information you need from your student account prior to that account being deleted.
