Google Mail: Archive Messages
Archiving moves messages out of your Inbox and into your "All Mail" label. Your archive also contains every message that you have sent or received but have not deleted (including messages in other labels). If there is any chance that you may need a message in the future, it is much safer to archive it rather than delete it.

To archive a message:
- In your Inbox, check the box next to the message you would like to archive.
- Click the [Archive] button in the toolbar. (You can also open the message and click [Archive].)
To locate an archived message:
- In Google Mail, click the “All Mail” label in the sidebar. (You may need to click the “More” down arrow. If you still do not see the label, it may be hidden. To show “All Mail” if it is hidden, click the “Manage labels” link under “More” in the sidebar and click “show” next to “All Mail.”
- Click the down arrow next to the search bar and enter information about the message for the search.
