HTML Emails: For Senders


HTML emails are not formatted with plain text, but with HyperText Markup Language, the coding language used to create Hypertext documents for use on the World Wide Web.

Why Use It?

HTML emails allow you to be creative! Some of the available options include background colors, formatted text, and graphics such as pictures and clip art. You can even insert animated graphics.

Too Much of a Good Thing?

HTML email should be used in moderation: for special occasions, invitations, or times when you want something eye-catching. Use plain text for general use email.

How to Send Non-HTML Emails with Color in GroupWise

Sending colorful email is possible without using HTML.

  1. Open a new email.
  2. Click "Font" from the gray toolbar (the double "A") to change the style, color, and/or size of your font.

How to Create HTML Emails in GroupWise

  1. Open a new email.
  2. Select "View" > "HTML."
  3. A new toolbar will appear. Use these tools to change your text formatting and insert graphics or tables.
  4. Some users create their graphic in Photoshop or another program, save it as a .jpg file, and import the whole graphic into the email for a very polished look.
  5. Please follow the HTML email courtesy guidelines.
