IMAP and POP Email
How can I do this in...Google, Outlook
IMAP and POP email may not work from the cu-unsecure wireless network if you are using Outlook Express, Thunderbird, or Linux email client. To use IMAP and POP from wireless, please use the cu-secure wireless network.
Email Settings
Here are the basic settings you will need to set up email on your computer or device. If you have problems with these settings, please bring your machine or device to the Computer Assistance Center in Tyler. You can find current hours on the SPC site. For more information about the differences between IMAP and POP, please click here.
For on and off-campus use, choose "use authentication" on your device. Use the following settings in your email client:
- Incoming: imap-pop.cedarville.edu
- Outgoing: imap-pop.cedarville.edu
Use your CedarNet username and password for authentication credentials. If you choose SSL encryption for the incoming server settings (also called SMTP server), choose port 995 for POP, or use port 993 for IMAP. Your program might default to a different port. Always use port 25 as the outgoing server.
We encourage you to choose SSL encryption on your device for security purposes.
If you are trying to set up the Mail app on your iOS device, see the help page on how to Set Up Mail on iPhone, iPod Touch, or iPad.
Address Book Settings
This information only works on campus. The following settings must be filled in so that you can authenticate and use the on-campus address book:
- server name: imap-pop.cedarville.edu
- base dn: o=cedarnet
- port: 389
- bind dn: (leave blank)
