Insert and Edit Images in Office
In Office 2010, you have more options to work with images directly in the programs. Once you use the [Insert] tab to place the image, most of the options are in the [Picture Tools] tab. The Picture tab is dynamic and only appears when you have selected an image.
- Click to select the picture you want to edit.
- A [Picture Tools] tab will display > Click the [Format] tab.
- Locate the "Adjust" group > Choose "Artistic Effects."
- Scroll over all 20+ options and view a “live preview” of your selection.
- Open the screen you want a screenshot of.
- Do not minimize the page, and open your Word document again.
- Click [Insert] tab > Locate the "Illustrations" group > Choose "Screenshot."
- Choose your page from list of available pages. The screenshot will be pasted into your document.
If you want just a small portion of a screen, make sure the screen is not minimized and perform the following steps:
- Open your Word document > Click [Insert] tab.
- Locate the "Illustrations" group > Click the arrow beneath the "Screenshot" option > Choose "Screen Clipping."
- Use your mouse to crop the section of the screen you want. It will insert the cropped portion into your document.
- Click to select the picture you want to work with.
- The Picture Tools tab will display> Click [Format].
- Locate the Adjust group > Choose "Remove Background."
- Use the selection box handles (small circles) to expand the selection box to include the whole picture.
- Click "Mark Areas to Keep" > Use your mouse to click and select the areas you want to remain in the picture.
- Select Keep Changes.
