Map the S: drive
From a University-Owned Computer
Anyone who wants to use the S drive must "map" it (which means give the computer a path to locate the information). Here's how:
- Click on the "Start" button.
- Choose "All Programs" > "_Cedarnet" > "Network Utilities" > "Map Department Drive (S)."
- You should receive a message saying "The Department Drive (S:) was successfully mapped."
- The S: drive will now show up as an available drive under 'My Computer' and Windows Explorer.
[Note: You must map the S: drive every time you log in and want to use it.]
Everyone who maps the S: drive has read-only access to the entire contents on the drive. Each faculty member has "write" access to their respective department folder only. In this way, faculty can save PowerPoint presentations, notes, etc. in their department folder on the S: drive and students can access the information and print items from the S: drive. Faculty members may want to create a folder within their department folder with their name and/or course title to help students locate information efficiently.
