Moving iTunes Music Library

Before proceeding, please read the warnings associated with storing your music and video files on a University (dorm) computer.

You may choose to move your iTunes music library from your H drive to your C drive in order to free up space on your H drive for academic purposes.

Here are some instructions as to how to move your iTunes music library.

Moving your iTunes Music Library

  1. Open iTunes
  2. Go to Edit > Preferences
  3. Select the Advanced Tab
  4. Select the [Change] button and choose a folder on the C: drive in which you wish to store your music
  5. (Optional) Enable "Keep iTunes Music Folder organized"
  6. Select [OK]
  7. If you get a prompt ("Would you like iTunes to move & rename files...") select [Yes]
  8. Go to Advanced > Consolidate Library
  9. Select [Consolidate]

Your music should now be located on the C drive.  If you would like to take the music off of your H drive, you can delete the iTunes music folders from there by going through My Computer and finding the folders on your H drive, and simply deleting them.
