Use GroupWise Notify

GroupWise Notify allows you to work fully on a project without checking your e-mail every few minutes by displaying a "pop-up" reminder on your computer screen when you receive an e-mail and/or you have a calendar appointment with an alarm. The notification window will disappear after a few moments.  

Receive Notifications Temporarily

You may turn Notify on temporarily to see if you like it, and it will be gone the next time you log on to a computer. 

1. Go to [Start] > "All Programs" > "Novell GroupWise" > Click "Notify."
2. You will start receiving notifications (pop-up windows) when you receive an email or have an appointment on your GroupWise calendar.

Receive Notifications Automatically

To run Notify every time you log in to any computer, follow these steps. 

1. Open GroupWise.
2. Select "Tools" > "Options" > [Environment] > "General" tab.
3. Check the box labeled "Launch Notify at startup" on the right side of the window > Click [OK] > Click [Close].
4. Close and reopen GroupWise for the changes to take effect.

Disable Notifications

1. If you turned Notify on temporarily, simply repeat the steps under "Receive Notifications Automatically."
2. If you turned Notify on for every GroupWise session, repeat the steps under "Automatically launch GroupWise when GroupWise is opened" > Uncheck the box labeled "Launch Notify at Startup."

Select Specific Notifications

When Notify is enabled, you will automatically begin receiving two kinds of notifications. A pop-up window will display whenever you receive an email as well as 5 minutes before appointments scheduled in your GroupWise calendar.

1. Open GroupWise.
2. Go to "Tools" > "Options" > "Security" > Click the "Notify" tab.
3. Type in your own name, starting with your last name.
4. Check or uncheck the boxes to select or unselect the notifications you want to receive.
   • "Alarms" are pop-ups regarding appointments on your calendar.
   • "Notifications" are pop-up messages announcing new email.
