Word: Citation and Bibliography
Word's Citations & Bibliography feature allows you to automatically generate a bibliography in any format required. This feature generates the in-text citations for you as well as the final bibliography at the end.
In-Text Citation
To add an in-text citation for a new source:
- Select the "References" tab > Locate the "Citations & Bibliography" group.
- Click the arrow text next to the "Style:" icon > Choose the preferred style.
- Select the [Insert Citation] arrow > Select "Add New Source...."
- Fill in the source information.
- When you finish, the in-text citation will appear and the source will be saved for later use.
To add an in-text citation for a previously used source:
- Select the "References" tab > Locate the "Citations & Bibliography" group.
- Click the [Insert Citation] arrow > Select one of the sources you have previously inserted.
Bibliography
To add the bibliography field in your paper:
- In the "Citations & Bibliography" group, select the [Bibliography] dropdown menu.
- Choose one of the bibliography formats.
The bibliography will contain all of the sources that you have added already by the in-text citation.
