Word: Insert File/Path Name into Document Footer
Inserting the path and file name into the footer or header will help you know where your document is located.
- Open Microsoft Word.
- Click the "Insert" tab.
- In the "Header & Footer" group, click "Header" or "Footer."
- Select a Header or Footer from the list.
- Return to the "Insert" tab.
- In the "Text" group, click [Quick Parts].
- Click "Field."
- Under "Field Names," select "FileName."
- In the "Field properties" area, select a format.
- In the "Field options" area, check "Add path to filename."
The path and filename will now appear in the header or footer.
