Zip (Compress) Multiple Files

There is a Windows utility that allows you to zip multiple files into a single compressed file format.  This is especially helpful if you are emailing files as attachments or if  there are space restrictions (zipping files can reduce file size by up to 50%).

How to Zip Files

Note:  Moving all files you wish to zip into a single location before proceeding with the zip instructions is recommended

  1. Use Windows Explorer or My Computer to locate the files you wish to zip
  2. Hold down the [Ctrl] button, and use your mouse to select (click) on each file you wish to combine into a zipped file.
  3. Now right-click and choose "Send To"
  4. Choose "Compressed (Zipped) Folder"

Your files will be combined into a single folder with a zipper icon on it.  Attach the zipped file to an email in lieu of multiple files.

Instructions regarding unzipping (extracting) files from a zipped folder that you receive are contained in the Extract Files from a Zipped (Compressed) Folder computer help page.
