Brazil
The People
The people of Brazil vary widely from one region to another. However, despite Brazil being the sixth largest country in the world, the common Portuguese language unites the country and provides a means of communication. Brazilians are not a reserved people; they do not hesitate to express joy, sorrow, and sympathy. The Brazilian people place a high value on family relations. Likewise, this sense of community is even evident among people from the same fazenda, or country estate. This value placed on friends and family is an expression of love, "The constant element in almost every news story, street scene, or familiar conversation" (Bishop 13).
