Volcanoes

Indonesia is characterized by hilly, mountainous terrain. Among the mountainous regions many volcanoes can be found. There are 400 volcanoes of which 100 are currently active.

The soil of Indonesia is extremely fertile because of the volcanic ash produced from the many volcanoes.

Krakatau is the largest volcano in Indonesia. It's greatest eruption is recorded in history and many people come to visit this volcano each year.
