Family

The role of the family is very important in Italian society. In Italy, the average size of households were historically larger than in the rest of Europe. However, in more recent times, the average size of Italian families has fallen. It is not unusual for different generations of the same family to live in the same house. Children, especially boys are spoiled and pampered, and tend to live at home for quite some time. Most Italian young adults will go to a local university to stay close to home rather attend one in another part of Italy.
