Three Geographic Regions

Coastal Plain:
This region makes up 45% of the state. It is characterized by gently rolling plains, swampy areas and is located near the Atlantic Coast. The average temperature is 66*F and it recieves 46-54 in. of precipitation yearly.

The Piedmont:
This region also makes up 45% of North Carolina. It has rolling, forested hills and plains. The yearly average temperature is 60*F. The average precipitation of this area is 44-50 in. a year.

The Appalachian Mountians:
The Mountain region takes up the remaining 10% of the state. This is where Kim lives. It includes the Blue Ridge Mountains and part of the Great Smoky Mountians. It recieves 40-80 in of precipitation annually. The avearge temperature for this area is a cooler 55*F.
