HISTORY
Ohio is a state in the United States of America. It is located in the Mid-West region of the United States. The states surrounding Ohio are Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Kentucky, and Indiana.
The Hopewell Mound builders were the earliest people that we know of who inhabited Ohio, but they disappeared around A.D. 400. When the European explorers came to Ohio, they mostly found Miami, Shawnee, Wyandot, and Delaware Indians. The fist permanent white settlement in Ohio was Marietta. New England Revolutionary War veterans settled Marietta in 1788. Ohio soon became the 17th state to be admitted into the Union in 1803.
