Usually, most French families enjoy two creches, a church creche, and a family creche. Here is an example of a church creche.

Great care is taken in setting up the creches. Holly and greens are purchased for a backdrop and a lighted star is always suspended over the creche. The family gathers around and sings carols as the petite Jesus (Le petit Noel) is placed in the manger.
