La Posada:
La Posada is the procession that shows how Mary and Joseph searched for a place to stay in Bethlehem. The processions begin nine days before Christmas Day. It lasts nine days because it took nine days for Mary and Joseph to travel from Nazareth to Bethlehem. Friends and family divide themselves into two groups-pilgrims and innkeepers. The pilgrims go from house to house asking for a place to stay and no one lets them in until they reach the house that has the Nativity scene. There are also children that dress up as angels and shepherds that march in the procession. When the pilgrims reach the house with the nativity, they are let into the house and everyone listens as a prayer is spoken. Then the party begins with a lot of food and things to drink.
