Yule Log

Christmas trees were never very popular in France, so the yule log took its place as the decoration for Christmas Eve. As said before, French people often make a cake in the shape of a yule log, which is called a buche de Noel.

Another tradition sometimes followed by the French is to make a cake called the "Cake of Kings". This is used on January 6th in a celebration. A bean is put inside and the person who finds the bean is given a crown and becomes king of the party.
