A Contribution of Confusion (Stonewall Jackson)

Story and Links by Nick Mariano and Jessica Patton

These stories give a shocking account of the "colored-blind" heart of a famous Southern General. They are based on an actual event; "Stonewall" Jackson funded the education of African-American students in the midst of the American Civil War.

A Contribution of Confusion: From Anna's (his wife) point of view

A Contribution of Confusion: From Rev. Dr. White's (his pastor) point of view

It is our intention that teachers or students be able to use these stories in the classroom. For that reason, we wrote the story from both a female and male perspective so the teacher or student can pick the appropriate version. We have also included comprehensive questions, story outlines, and extension ideas. Links to other Civil War sites are also available. Have fun!
