Welcome!
Cedarville University is thankful for the friendship we enjoy with Southern Baptists. In November 2002, the State Convention of Baptists in Ohio (the state's arm of the national Southern Baptist Convention) approved a resolution to recommend Cedarville University to its churches and to "all Southern Baptists as an accredited, quality, four-year university that embraces Southern Baptists." While Cedarville is not an official Southern Baptist institution of higher learning, we highly value our relationship with Southern Baptists and all churches who share our conservative evangelical doctrinal statement (most notably biblical inerrancy). To learn more about this recommendation, please see Cedarville's Spring 2003 Torch announcement.
SBC leaders have recognized Cedarville as a place where their young people can receive an education "grounded in biblical truth." Cedarville's commitment to the inerrant Word of God is clear and unequivocal. That steadfastness is what attracted the attention of the Ohio SBC to Cedarville. Dr. Morris Chapman, chief executive officer of the executive committee of the Southern Baptist Convention, expressed:
"Thanks to Ohio Baptists, Southern Baptists will now learn more about the high standard of Christian values that characterize the Cedarville campus. They will discover an institution and faculty committed to providing a quality education based upon conservative biblical principles historically rooted in biblical inerrancy. They will rejoice to learn that this institution is teaching the Truth to future leaders of our nation."
