President's Chapel Series in Romans: Justified, Forgiven, Alive in Christ
In his yearly chapel sermon series, Dr. Thomas White is walking through the book of Romans, encouraging the Cedarville family to understand, celebrate, and live out our new identity in Christ. You can access past messages and follow along as we lift up Jesus and learn how His work on the cross leads us to new life. We are justified by Christ's sacrifice, forgiven by His grace, and made alive in Him forever!
Fall Bible Conference Sets the Tone for the Year
We once again kicked off fall semester with the annual Fall Bible Conference, a time to center our thoughts on God's Word and prepare for the semester ahead. This year's speaker was Dr. Corey Abney, alumnus, trustee, and senior pastor of Bell Shoals Baptist Church in Tampa, Florida. Dr. Abney encouraged students to find their identity in Christ. We saw 30 students make decisions for Christ during the conference.
The Synergy Initiative
In recent years, our nation has seen a dramatic decline in church attendance, and many churches have closed their doors for good. At Cedarville, we want to do something about this alarming trend. That's why we were so excited this past spring to announce The Synergy Initiative, a new Center that will equip our students to invest their energies, talents, and efforts in planting, revitalizing, and multiplying churches. Students will have training and ministry opportunities while they are here, but the goal is to send them out after graduation in strategic and coordinated ways to make a difference for Christ in their local churches.
Standing for Biblical Truth
At Cedarville, we are committed to speaking biblical truth into the tough issues of our day and teaching our students to do the same. That's why we were excited to be a stop on the Stand for Life: Image of God Tour 2023 and to welcome Dr. Christopher Yuan, a leading author and speaker on sexuality, to chapel for two days. Students were challenged and instructed as they were encouraged to stand for truth.
Stewarding His Gifts
We are grateful for the gifts that God has given to Cedarville University, and we seek to steward them well — for His glory, not our own.
Record Enrollment
This fall, we experienced our 15th-consecutive record enrollment. God is continuing to bring students to Cedarville who desire an excellent education grounded in biblical truth.
Continuing Work on the Scharnberg Business and Communication Center
We continue to make great progress on the $40 million Lorne C. Scharnberg Business and Communication Center, scheduled to open for fall 2024 semester. This world-class facility is being constructed on the north side of Cedar Lake and will house our business and communication academic programs, the Center for the Advancement of Cybersecurity, and the Berry Center for Free Enterprise as well as a new dining option.
New Residence Hall Opened
With record enrollment comes the need for additional student housing. Morton Hall opened in fall 2023, providing 120 beds for female students. This three-story residence hall provides so much more than a place to sleep: Through late-night talks, group prayer time, and intentional discipleship, young women are being encouraged to grow deeper in their faith and make Christ central to everything they do.
Summer Campus Improvement Projects
Students may have been gone, but it was anything but quiet over the summer as construction projects took place all across campus. Along with continued construction on the Scharnberg Business and Communication Center, crews worked on an updated Lakeside Plaza outside the Stevens Student Center lower entrance, a new Panda Express dining facility and remodeled Rinnova coffee house, updates to Centennial Library, paving projects throughout campus, and more.

New Nursing Doctoral Program Responds to Healthcare Demand
This fall, we were excited to launch a new online Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) program, which is preparing high-quality Christian nurse practitioners and nurse leaders. The DNP will help meet both the growing need and changing landscape in healthcare. The DNP joins the School of Nursing's long-successful Bachelor of Science in Nursing and online Master of Science in Nursing, which was recently recognized by U.S. News and World Report as the #5 online graduate nursing program in Ohio and in the top 100 nationally.
Professor Takes Questions by Flight
Dr. Jonathan Arnold, a new Associate Professor of Theological Studies, has found a creative way to engage with his students and encourage deeper learning. Instead of simply raising their hand when they have a question, Dr. Arnold's students are instructed to throw a paper airplane at their professor. Unconventional? Yes, but it breaks down barriers and encourages students to participate in class. Is it any wonder the Wall Street Journal has ranked Cedarville in the top 5 for student engagement year after year?
NASA Scholarship Provides Career Liftoff
Junior molecular biology major Tara Keller turned her interest in biology and medicine into a scholarship from NASA. NASA is partnering with the Ohio Aerospace Institute to sponsor college students conducting research that would be applicable to NASA's field of study. With the help of her Cedarville professors, Keller was chosen as one of the recipients for this prestigious scholarship.
Leading the Way in Healthcare
We are not the largest university in Ohio, but our impact on healthcare is oversized. With the recent additions of Doctor of Nursing Practice and physician assistant programs, Cedarville University is furthering its position as a leader in providing excellent healthcare education. And, with a strong biblical focus in every program, our students are being equipped to address the needs of the whole patient, both physical and spiritual. We offer undergraduate and graduate programs in allied health, athletic training, nursing, PA, pharmacy, and premedical.
Cedarville Model U.N. Team Wins Big in NYC
Competing against students from around the world, Cedarville's Model U.N. team came away with the Outstanding Delegation award at the 2023 Model U.N. competition in New York City — the highest team award at the event. Several of our students achieved individual honors as well.
One-of-a-Kind Internship for Athletic Training Student
This summer, a Cedarville Master of Athletic Training (MAT) student completed a coveted internship with The Center for the Female Athlete at Dayton Children's Hospital. Our MAT program, in its second year, is preparing highly skilled athletic trainers who will use their vocations to make a Gospel impact in schools and universities, professional athletics, and medical offices and clinics.
Inaugural Berry Chair for Entrepreneurship Named
We are excited to welcome entrepreneur and bestselling author Dr. Kary Oberbrunner as Cedarville University's inaugural Berry Chair of Entrepreneurship. Oberbrunner will identify, attract, and recruit Christ-centered, competent entrepreneurs-in-residence who will mentor students. He also will teach digital marketing and entrepreneurship courses and lead the Entrepreneur Accelerator program to assist students in bringing their business ideas to life. This role is result of a $1 million gift to the University by the Berry Family Foundation of Dayton, Ohio, for the establishment of the Berry Center for Free Enterprise.
Living Out Our Faith in Genuine Christian Community
Choose Cedarville University
Choosing where to pursue a degree is a life-transforming decision. We encourage prospective undergraduate and graduate students to begin with the end in view.
Academically Rigorous, Biblically Faithful, and Fun!
Who said Christians can't have fun? At Cedarville University, we're well known for excellent academics and a distinctly biblical worldview — but our students also know how to have a good time! Watch this video to see what undergraduate students experienced during Welcome Week in August.
Students Use Spring Break to GO and Spread the Gospel
During spring break in March, we had 14 teams made up of 226 students, faculty, and staff take part in Global Outreach (GO) short-term missions trips. Teams traveled domestically to places like Atlanta, Boston, and New York City and internationally to London, Mexico, and Guatemala. GO trips allow students to apply what they are learning in Bible classes and chapel as they take the message of the Gospel to a world that so desperately needs it.
The “Most Collegiest Town” in Ohio
According to The Washington Post's calculations, Cedarville is the “Most Collegiest Town” in Ohio and among the most “collegiest” in the nation! Our students benefit from quaint coffee shops and community events, and we are pleased to welcome local residents to campus regularly. We are thankful for our little village and are grateful to work, serve, and live among its residents.
An Answer to Prayer
Last year, students in our strategic communication program initiated a campaign seeking a new kidney for beloved professor Dr. Chuck Elliott. This fall, we are rejoicing with Dr. Elliott and the sacrificial gift that led him to restored health. Listen to a recent Cedarville Stories podcast as he shares about his long journey from kidney failure to answered prayer. God is so good!
From Crib Mates to College Roommates
Some stories only God could write. In 2005, 18 families from the United States, unknown to each other at the time, adopted daughters from the Hunan province in China. All born within six months of each other, the girls were placed into their new parents' arms in the same room, on the same day. Two of those girls are now rooming together as freshmen at Cedarville.
Doing Dorm Life Differently
Residence hall life looks very different at Cedarville. Find out why.
