Biography

Carlos Chang has more than 35 years of professional experience in building and space design including hospitals and health care facilities, corporate headquarters, colleges and universities, performing arts centers, city and municipal buildings, retail centers, hotels, and residential homes. He has spent most of his career with two large architectural design firms, NBBJ and URS Corporation, as a Senior Project Designer and Design Director and is still active as an architectural design consultant. His work experience includes international design projects throughout the world. Carlos has taught art and design thinking for both industry and academia. He published an article in World Architecture Magazine( 2002) and is the author of New Architecture in China, Merrell Publishers 2005, London UK. He is currently writing a book on design thinking and creativity based on his personal design experience.

Interests

  • Favorite places to visit: Domestically, historical places and art museums. Internationally, loves culturally rich European countries such as Spain, Italy, England and France.
  • Hobbies: An accomplished fine artist with exhibits in Oyarkandal Studio Ubeda, Spain, El Salvador's Embassy in Taiwan, Columbus Museum of Art, Sharon Weiss Gallery, Columbus, Ohio. He is also a classical guitarist.
  • Why Cedarville: I came to a relationship with Cedarville through my working relationship with the International Center for Creativity. I consider teaching at the ICC facility a blessing and a very enjoyable opportunity that allows me to share my years of experience in the field of architectural and interior design, in multiple disciplines, situations, and cultures.
