Fred A. Buehler serves as vice president and general manager of performance chemicals at Eastman Chemical Company in Kingsport, Tenn. Buehler manages a specialty chemicals business with sales revenue in excess of $300 million, more than 1,000 employees globally, and manufacturing operations in the U.S. and Europe. Eastman’s Performance Chemicals manufactures and markets a wide variety of specialty chemicals used in end-use applications such as pharmaceuticals, foods, beverages, personal care products, pigments, agricultural products, and numerous industrial items.

Buehler joined Eastman in 1983 as a technical sales representative and has held several sales and marketing positions during his career. In addition, Buehler has held management positions in strategic planning, information technology, and new business development.

Prior to being named VP/GM of performance chemicals, Buehler was vice president of new business development, where he was responsible for Eastman Ventures, the corporate venture capital arm of Eastman Chemical Company. In this role, Buehler was also responsible for the launch of ventures such as Cendian Corporation, a logistics services provider, and Ariel Research, a health, safety, and environmental services company.

Buehler holds a bachelor of science degree from the University of Waterloo in Ontario, Canada.
