Integrated Business Core
As part of the Business Administration curriculum, most juniors choose to participate in the Integrated Business Core (IBC). This innovative program will help you develop a cross-disciplinary view of business. You will take Principles of Marketing, Principles of Management, as well as Principles of Finance along with a course called the IBC Practicum. The first three courses are taught so that you’ll be prepared for the activities and requirements of the fourth course. As part of the practicum, you will form a company, write a business plan, obtain a loan, implement your plan, make a profit, and close down operations. While running the company, you will also choose a local nonprofit organization to provide a minimum of 10 hours of work per student and all of your profits at the end of the semester. The IBC gives you more ownership of the learning process and provides practical, real-life experience of actually doing what you are learning about. In the years since its inception at Cedarville University, IBC students have donated 4,884 hours of service and $37,900 to nonprofit organizations.
