In addition to completion of the engineering major, the biomedical engineering minor requires just seven additional credit-hours of coursework:

  • BIO/GBIO-XXXX  - Biology Elective (3.5-4.0)*
  • BIO 2010 - Human Anatomy and Physiology (4)
  • EGGN 3610 - Biomedical Engineering Systems (3)**
  • One of the following elective courses:
  • One of the following elective courses:
    • EGGN-3710 - Biomedical Engineering Research (2)
    • Health Science Elective (3-4)
    • Engineering Elective (3)

* Fulfills the biology requirement of the engineering major
** Fulfills an elective requirements of the engineering major

Students intending to pursue medical school should take two semesters of general chemistry and organic chemistry, plus one semester of zoology, cell biology, and junior-level biochemistry.

In addition, mechanical engineering students selecting the biomedical engineering minor may replace EGEE-3530 Electrical Machines in their major with an engineering technical elective, approved by the School of Engineering Dean, appropriate to their plan of study.
