The U.S. Department of Labor recently reported on the career potential for biomedical engineers: "The aging of the population and the focus on health issues will increase the demand for better medical devices and equipment designed by biomedical engineers." In addition, the Department of Labor predicts the demand for biomedical engineering will grow "much faster than the average" occupational growth rate. Currently the average salary for biomedical engineers is $75,000, and the demand is nationwide.
