Rick Tison, Ph.D.

Assistant Professor of History


Dr. Tison serves as an assistant professor of history. Prior to arriving at Cedarville, he taught in the Texas A&M University system (Corpus Christi and Kingsville campuses). Dr. Tison teaches History of Civilizations and the Teaching Social Studies Methods. He is currently preparing a manuscript for submission to the Johns Hopkins University Press History of Science and Religion Series.

Education and Credentials

  • Ph.D. in Intellectual History/History of Science, University of Oklahoma 
  • M.A. in Church-State Studies focusing on First Amendment legal history, Baylor University
  • B.A. in English, Oakland University
