Schedule of Dates to Remember »
  1. Complete the CU Study Abroad application and healthcare screening paperwork.

  2. Contact the Study Abroad office to set up an appointment to discuss your academic goals.
    Bring the application and healthcare screening paperwork (packet #1) to the meeting.
    Due dates: Spring semester programs: due September 15
    Summer and Fall semester programs: due January 15
    During the meeting, we will go over:
    • your academic goals
    • programs that you may consider
    • anticipated costs
    • course planning worksheet
    In order for your application and healthcare screening paperwork to be processed, you will be asked to pay a $200 non-refundable fee.

  3. Meet with your advisor to plan courses and the time that you'll be away from campus.

  4. Choose your program and location. Once you have received an email confirming that you have been accepted by CU Study Abroad, follow the instructions on your program's website to apply. Pay close attention to deadlines and due dates. Apply for a passport or visa. It may take 8 weeks to receive your passport, so apply no later than the beginning of the semester before you study abroad! Some countries require a visa (look under "Get Required Documents"). The general rule for Europe: your passport cannot be set to expire less than six months after your final day of travel. Read this if you are traveling in Europe! CU Study Abroad will need a copy of your passport or visa.

  5. Schedule a meeting with the Study Abroad office the semester before your program.
    You will be given packet #2 to complete:
    • referrals from faculty - one from your advisor and one from a faculty member who has taught you in class.
    • HIPAA form
    • agreement form
    • schedule a Travel Consultation with UMS
    • Policy on Refunds
    • CU Study Abroad course registration form
      * Upon completion of this registration form, CU Study Abroad will send it to the office of the registrar.
      * You do not register for study abroad courses through student planning.

  6. Attend three required pre-departure meetings.
    • Spring semester CU Study Abroad programs - meeting with Dr. Wiseman on September 26*, October 24, and November 21, 2019 at 6 p.m.   
      * Students going to Spain in Spring semester will meet with Dr. Wiseman on Wednesday, September 25, 6 p.m.
    • Fall semester CU Study Abroad programs - a meeting with Dr. Wiseman, March 10, and Apil 23, 2020, at 6 p.m.
    • Faculty-led CU Study Abroad summer programs - a meeting with Dr. Wiseman, March 11, and April 21, 2020, at 6 p.m.
Billing

At the time of course registration, you will be charge CU tuition and any course fees. A $250 non-refundable administrative fee and any overage from the program will be charged to your student account after the program bills CU.
