School of Pharmacy Missions Trip to Honduras

This summer, nine students from the Cedarville University School of Pharmacy participated in a missions trip led by Jeff Huston, Instructor of Pharmacy Practice, to Choluteca, Honduras. The team joined with missionaries Larry and Angie Overholt, who are currently stationed in Honduras. The team provided fluoride treatments to the local children and supplied them with toothbrushes and toothpaste that they donated. The team also worked closely with a group of students attending the first nursing high school, started by the Overholts, located in the city of Choluteca. They worked side by side with the students to conduct blood glucose and blood pressure health screenings to the local community. This trip was a great opportunity to work with an underserved population and to see how something as small as fluoride can make a huge difference in the health and lives of these people.
