Dr. Helmick was involved in academic research at the University of Florida and the University of Illinois for several summers in the 1970s. During the summers from 1980 to 1998, he was involved in industrial research at the NASA-Lewis Research Center and Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. Dr. Helmick's interests include creation-evolution issues and the thermal stability of fuels and lubricants. He has more than 45 refereed articles published in scientific journals and has received several professional awards. His biography is included in numerous Who's Who directories.
