Tom (deaf) and Christine Mitchell (hearing) attend the Vineyard Church of Columbus. Sharing a vision that deaf people can be active participants in God’s work through involvement in the mainstream church, both felt called to create a deaf ministry within the Vineyard community. Tom holds a B.A. in Sociology from Ohio State University along with a M.S. in Criminal Justice from University of Cincinnati. Christine has a B.A. in Deaf Education from MacMurray College and a M.A. in The Art of Teaching from Marygrove College. In addition to their deaf ministry, Tom works in real estate and Christine works at a relay call center that interprets deaf video phone calls. The Mitchells have been married eight years and have two daughters. Both girls are hearing. Noelle (4) is fluent in American Sign Language and Zoey (1) has recently begun acquiring ASL right along with English.
