11:15 a.m. Workshops

Creating Gospel Focused Lessons

Brandon Waltz, Director of Production Services Group at Cedarville University
Biblical & Theological Studies Center Room 201

The gospel of Jesus Christ is not only the message we must understand to enter the Christian life, it is also the message we remember to make any progress in that life. This workshop is about making the most of our opportunities to teach this message well to children. In those moments, our focus is not only to communicate “content to be understood” but a person to be adored.

Ministry IT, Website and A/V — Q&A Session

Ryan Simmons, Numinous Productions
Biblical & Theological Studies Center Room 203

Having trouble with your sound board? Is your church email getting blocked? Do you need your website to provide a new service and you’re not sure where to start? Come ask your questions and listen to others during this general question and answer time about church media. In lieu of questions, we’ll cover the top 5 pitfalls of church A/V and websites.

What in the World is a Non-Negotiated Follower of Christ?

Scott Bruns, Executive Director of Scioto Hills Camp
Biblical & Theological Studies Center Room 205

The best thing we can do for the kids we serve and teach in our local churches and beyond is to be a non-negotiated follower of Christ. What the heck does that mean? I’m a Christian, isn’t that enough? Yes, being a Christian is enough in the Biblical sense. After all it means, “A little Christ.” Nothing could be better than that! However, in the 21st Century, it may not be the best way to describe life in Christ as its image in society is tainted. According to Barna Research, as high as 85% of Americans call themselves a Christian. Hmmm… that sounds a little fishy to me. I’m suggesting a different “brand” for us. A brand that is Biblical and will impact others for the advancement of the Gospel and the testimony of Christ.

No Cards, No Problem

Josh Witry, Administrative Director, Skyview Ranch
Biblical & Theological Studies Center Room 206

Sometimes the best games are those that you need little to no materials for. In this session, come learn icebreakers, games, and more that will keep your students engaged, active, and having fun. Be prepared to participate!

Safe Place

Barb Hunt, Director of Children’s Ministries, Grace Baptist Church in Cedarville, Ohio
Biblical & Theological Studies Center Room 208

Every church must address the issues of Child Protection. This workshop will offer many practical procedures and policies that your church can implement to help reduce risk and increase safety for the children and workers in your ministry.

1:15 p.m. Workshop with Jesse Joyner (only workshop offered during this time slot)

How to Juggle (And Other Resources You Can Use in Ministry)

Jesse Joyner, Christian Illusionist
Dixon Ministry Center Room 152

Calling all adult leaders! Come to a workshop where you get to move around and work both sides of your brain by learning how to juggle. You may think you can never do it, but Jesse will show you some tips to help you with the basic pattern. Even the process of learning how to juggle is full of life lessons, as Jesse will explain. After some juggling, Jesse will share a list of resources for ministry that he has come across over the past twenty years of performing and speaking. From large group games to video-based learning tools, Jesse will share resource ideas that you can use immediately in your ministry.
