Cedarville, Ohio—With Harry Potter books sweeping magical mayhem all over bestseller fiction lists, many Christians are left wondering whether these popular tales of childhood wizardry are suitable reading material for their children. In response to the many differing opinions on this topic, the Tau Delta Kappa (TDK) honors organization of Cedarville University will hold the forum “Christianity & Harry Potter” on Mon., May 7 from 7:30 p.m.- 9 p.m. at the University. “This issue is not going away,” explained TDK President Kimberly Eridon. “We wanted to give the Cedarville family and the public a chance to hear about this issue from people who have considered it. We hope that anyone who comes will hear some new points of view and think about them.” Panel members will include Dr. Eddie Baumann, Dr. James Bjornstad, and Dr. Bruce Edwards. Baumann and Bjornstad are both Cedarville faculty members, Baumann as an associate professor of education and Bjornstad as a professor of philosophy. Edwards, a professor of English at Bowling Green State University, is a widely recognized scholar on C.S. Lewis, the author of fantasy literature such as The Chronicles of Narnia. The event is free and open to the public and will convene in Stevens Student Center Rooms 240 and 245. Call 937-766-7808 for more information.
