Cedarville, Ohio—Cedarville University freshman nursing major Tracy Geiser (Dalton, Ohio) has received a First Generation Scholarship from The Coca-Cola Foundation. Geiser and 34 Ohio college students were honored at the State Capitol recently as the first Ohio recipients of the scholarship. The scholarship is being offered to Ohio students for the first time through a partnership between the Ohio Foundation for Independent Colleges (OFIC) and The Coca-Cola Foundation. Students who are the first in their family to go to college (one student per each of the 35 OFIC-member colleges and universities) receive a $5,000 scholarship, renewable for up to three additional years based on academic standing and participation in campus activities. The Coca-Cola First Generation Scholarship Program was created in 1994 and has since expanded to nearly $4 million in funding to support students at 382 colleges and universities across 31 states. OFIC is a cooperative business and academic partnership formed in 1950 to bolster fundraising and collaboration efforts for scholarships and other programs at member schools. For more information about the scholarship, contact OFIC at email@example.com or 614-469-1950.
