Cedarville, Ohio—The Cedarville University Jazz Singers will perform new arrangements of older American pop songs, Latin tunes, swing, and big band music on Tuesday, May 14. Their concert begins at 8 p.m. in the Recital Hall of the Dixon Ministry Center on the Cedarville campus. The Singers will perform jazz renditions of Paul Simon’s "Cecilia," "Me and Julio Down by the Schoolyard," and "So Long, Frank Lloyd Wright." Also featured are arrangements of the Sergio Mendez Latin standard "So Many Stars" and a swing version of George Gershwin’s "But Not for Me." In an arrangement of Count Basie’s "Corner Pocket," also known as "Until I Met You," the Singers will vocalize the original horn solos. The Jazz Singers are directed by Laila Kteily-O’Sullivan, associate professor of music theory. The concert is free and open to the public. For more information, call 937-766-7808.
