Cedarville, Ohio—Cedarville University presented its Annual Impact Teacher Awards on April 29. This year’s recipients were Marcy Hintz, a 1994 graduate of Cedarville, and Mike Hurd. Hintz, an English teacher at Tree of Life Christian School in Columbus, has been teaching for eight years. She was nominated by her former student Kristen Caudill, who is now a sophomore early childhood education major at Cedarville. Hintz is both the youngest teacher to have won the Impact Award and the first Cedarville graduate to receive it. Hurd, a secondary social studies teacher at Engleside Christian School in Alexandria, Virginia, has been teaching for 21 years. He was nominated by Rebekah Baxter, a Cedarville senior mathematics education major who graduated under Hurd’s tutelage at Tri-City Christian High School in Independence, Mo. Both Hintz and Hurd were chosen for their integrity, ability to challenge and motivate students, and their strong positive impact on students’ learning and lives. -30-
