by Public Relations Office

Cedarville, Ohio - Greg Belliveau, assistant professor of English at Cedarville University, has been named a Christy Awards finalist for his latest book, "Go Down to Silence." The Christy Awards celebrate excellence in Christian fiction and are designed to highlight the diversity of choices available in Christian fiction, encourage creativity, and highlight talent that may not have reached the best-seller lists. Winners will be announced at the third annual Christy Awards July 12 in Anaheim, Calif. Luci Shaw, poet, essayist, and teacher, will be the keynote speaker, and author Sigmund Brouwer will emcee the event. Publishers established the Christy Awards program in 1999 to recognize novelists and novels of excellence in Christian fiction genre. The awards: -Nurture and encourage creativity and quality in the writing and publishing of fiction for Christian readers. -Bring a new awareness of the breadth and depth of fiction choices in local Christian bookstores and beyond, helping to broaden the readership. -Provide opportunities to recognize novelists whose work may not have reached bestseller status.
