O'Neel Joins University Staff

Cedarville, Ohio— Roger O`Neel has accepted the position of assistant professor of church music at Cedarville University. His responsibilities include teaching music and music composition. O`Neel holds a B.M. in music theory and composition from Ouachita Baptist University and M.M. degrees in choral conducting and music theory from Southern Methodist University. In addition, he earned a Ph.D. in music theory from the University of Texas. Prior to joining the University faculty, O`Neel served as the assistant professor and chair of the department of music at Bluefield College in Bluefield, Va. His additional experiences include serving as an instructor at Oklahoma Baptist University`s Ministry Training Institute; associate pastor of music and worship at the First Baptist Church in Miami, Okla.; and the pastor-director of worship celebration at Cornerstone Bible Church in Orange, Calif. O`Neel is a member of the American Society of Composers and Publishers, College Music Society, and the Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia. He and his wife, Nancy, and their family reside in Xenia. "I am very excited about being here at Cedarville," said O`Neel. "Cedarville is the type of school in which I have always wanted to teach: a Christian University with a strong academic emphasis integrated with biblical truth in all aspects of campus life," he explained. "I hope to spend time mentoring students and building the church music program."
