by Public Relations Office

Cedarville, Ohio—Author Donna VanLiere will speak at Cedarville University on Wednesday, Oct. 8 at 10 a.m. in the Jeremiah Chapel of the Dixon Ministry Center. VanLiere may well be best known for her novella "The Christmas Shoes," which inspired the CBS television "Movie of the Week" of the same name in December 2002. "The Christmas Shoes" starred Dayton native Rob Lowe ("The West Wing") and Kimberly Williams ("Father of the Bride") in what CBS called "a heart-warming holiday drama." VanLiere wrote the book after hearing NewSong`s mainstream adult contemporary radio single, "The Christmas Shoes," which hit No. 1 in January 2001 after just three weeks on the chart. VanLiere`s sequel to "The Christmas Shoes," titled "The Christmas Blessing" is set for release by St. Martin`s Press in the fall of this year. Most recently, VanLiere worked with widow Evelyn Husband to write "High Calling: The Courageous Life and Faith of Space Shuttle Columbia Commander Rick Husband," due out in early 2004. Additional works by VanLiere are "They Walked With Him" and "Sheltering Trees: The Power, Promise, and Refuge of Friendship." VanLiere graduated from Cedarville University in 1989 with a bachelor of arts degree in communication arts. VanLiere`s lecture is free and the public is invited.
