Cedarville University to Host Strength Training Seminars Featuring Dr. Wayne Westcott

Cedarville, Ohio—Cedarville University will host fitness seminars featuring Dr. Wayne Westcott Oct. 30-31. Westcott is currently the fitness research director at the South Shore YMCA in Quincy, Mass. He received his B.S. and M.S. degrees from Pennsylvania State University and his Ph.D. from The Ohio State University. He is a strength training consultant for numerous national organizations, such as the American Council on Exercise and the National School Fitness Foundation. Westcott has done strength training seminars for fitness/conditioning instructors in the U.S. Navy, Marines, Army, Air Force, and the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center. A prolific author, Westcott has written 18 books, including his newest release, "No More Cellulite" (written with Rita La Rosa Loud). Westcott has been honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award from the International Association of Fitness Professionals, the Fitness Industry Leader Award from the National Strength Professionals Association, and the American Fitness Leader Award from the President`s Council on Physical Fitness and Sports. Westcott will present "Strength Exercise: Why and How" on Thursday, Oct. 30 from 7 p.m.-9 p.m. in the Dixon Ministry Center on the Cedarville campus. This presentation will explain why every adult should strength train and how to develop an effective and safe strength training program. No registration is required for this free event. On Friday, Oct. 31, Westcott will hold a Nautilus Strength Training Certification program in the new Recreation Center on the Cedarville campus. From 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., Westcott will cover topics such as strength training potential, high intensity strength training, and a strength machine practical. Registrants will receive a free copy of Westcott`s best-selling book "Building Strength and Stamina" (2nd edition). Continuing Education Credits are available (.7 CECs). This certification program costs $129 (free for all Cedarville University students, faculty, and staff) and registration is required.
